My VMX file is invalid (after ESX 4.0 update) after adding it to invertory. Yes, this method is correct, however.. I’m unable to create NIC with same MAC address as it has before. There is no way to create NIC with auto-assigned MAC identical as it was before. MAC address poll for auto-created NIC is different from manual-created.

Now you should go back to the datastore browser, select the virtual machine on the new datastore, do a right mouse click on the vmx file and select Add to Inventory. The wizard will ask you if you want to give it a new name. Click Next to continue. I am only running a single ESXi host so there’s just 1 resource pool. Click Next to continue.

When I do a 'Get-ChildItem -Force' in the datastore for the replicated files I only get the .vmdk and -flat.vmdk even though the remaining, masked, files are visible in the datastore browser in the vSphere web client. Same thing happens using 'ls -al' in a Putty session to one of the ESXi hosts. Reply Delete
